FAQ's: Frequently Asked Questions What does Namaste` mean? Namaste` is a salutation which essentially means that I greet and acknowledge the God-Spirit that resides within you. Ram Dass describes it this way: [Namaste` means] "I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace. I honor the place within you where if you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, there is only one of us." This greeting is usually done with a gesture of hands held close to the heart in prayer position. It is a recognition of Atman, the acknowledgement of our connection in Spirit and a wonderful way of expressing love .

My hope is that Spiritwalk Forum could be a place of inspired conversation and a place to build community. Please feel free to be yourself. It is o.k. to be personal and honest. [The webmaster will edit any inappropriate postings. Initials or aliases will be used unless you would like to have your name posted.] You can also introduce your own topic. This is a new idea for me, but I know that it is practiced elsewhere. So if you have some expertise in how this can best be accomplished, please share your experience. March 22, 1998 Question from Roger Ebsen I am interested in exploring the kinds of spiritual practices that people have integrated into their personal daily life. What is it that you do to maintain a spiritual balance in your everyday life? For example one of the things I do is run this web-site. That helps focus me every day. What do you do? Send your communication to Forum1@spiritwalk.org and identify it as a forum entry or response. Please include the Forum number and which communication this is regarding. [in re:]
March 22, 1998 Question from Roger Ebsen I love hearing stories from people where they had unusual experiences, dreams, synchronicity, magical events and best of all genuine miracles. We always share these at the Spiritwalk meetings and even the most insignificant thing seems to pique the interest of the others. So, do you have a story? Send your communication to Forum2@spiritwalk.org and identify it as a forum entry or response. Please include the Forum number and which communication this is regarding. [in re:]
Forum 3: Spiritual Study: Books & Teachers March 22, 1998 Question from Roger Ebsen Have you read a good book that you would like to tell others about? I always appreciate hearing about an event, a book, a magazine, a TV Show, or a teacher on the horizon or cutting edge that otherwise I might never know about. Where have you found inspiration recently? [you might even want to tell us about an old favorite.] What are you studying now? March 22, 1998 Response from Roger Ebsen: In re: Spiritual Books Here's what I find in my bookbag today. The spiritwalk group is reading Carl Jung's spiritual autobiography Memories, Dreams and Reflections. I brought home 2 of Ram Dass' older books on spiritual practice, namely Grist for the Mill and The Only Dance There Is. I needed these books for the quote Namaste` today. I am currently also reading Sylvia Boorstein's very accessible book on the fundamentals of American Buddhism titled It's Easier than You Think. I also carry along with me a copy of Shambala pocket book by Jack Kornfield, Teachings of the Buddha. On my desk at the office is The Anatomy of Energy by Caroline Myss, which I am re-reading. This book is about human energy systems and the Chakras. So that's what I'm doing...What are you up to? Question from Roger Ebsen An invitation from Roger Ebsen

Forum 4: The Spiritwalk Friends Network An opportunity to connect with other people who walk a spiritual path An invitation from Roger Ebsen If you are interested in connecting with others who practice a spiritual life, create an invitation for others to make contact with you by leaving your e-mail address and an idea of your interests and practices. Maybe someone would like to share with you their experience and ideas. Nothing seems more exciting to me than sharing Spirit. Of course, Spiritwalk has no way of knowing who will contact you so please be discreet when you reveal your identity and personal information. Feel free to use the Spiritwalker moniker with a number as I have below. You can even use @spiritwalk.org and we will forward the message on to you if you want that anonymity. If this gets to be too much we will ask for a change, but at least we can do it temporarily. We will forward messages on uncensored, as received, and so we will take no responsibility for the content. However, any totally inappropriate communication will not be sent on as we will not cosign inhumanity. Please be peaceful and maintain courtesy and decorum. You are on your own so be careful out there! Feel free to use the Spiritwalker moniker with a number as I have below. You are on your own so be careful out there! Spiritwalker 1 My name is Roger Ebsen and I personally welcome anyone to contact me about anything spiritual. I am the founder and Director of Spiritwalk. If you have perused the web-site, you have an idea of who I am and the kinds of things that interest me. I am a practicing psychotherapist and a spiritual eclectic. The great influences in my life have been: #1, my relationships with my close friends who also practice spiritual living and who are my teachers; my family probably fits in here, also, my children blow my mind daily; then, my clients and fellow Spiritwalkers; next I think my teachers Baba Ram Dass, Alan Watts, The Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh, The work of Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Black Elk, Deepak Chopra, Marrianne Williamson and Gerald Jampolsky, M. Scott Peck, Thomas Moore, Wayne Dyer, and many more. Most recently I have been studying Caroline Myss, Lama Surya Das, Sylvia Boorstein and Mary Manin Morrisey. I am an avid reader and student, and, believe it or not, a generally quiet guy. I dabble in philosophy and political questions. I dislike injustice, but I try to maintain equinimity. I love nature and meditation...exploring the Internet and working on the computer. I watch TV constantly and I am not ashamed. I also enjoy music and movies and gardening. [You can also check out my entry in the Spiritwalk Guestbook below.] You can reach me at Spiritwalker_1@spiritwalk.org. Join with me with your note to Forum4@spiritwalk.org.

Webmaster Notes and Web-site Information Notes and Information about the administration of the Spiritwalk Web-site We would love to link up with other web-sites that facilitate spiritual discovery. Following the lead of others, I would like to create a network of web-sites, both of individual's home pages and of organizations. So far there is one www.spiritwalk.org. i.e.here. If you would like to participate or if you know more about setting up one of these than I do (not much) please let me know. I would like to make it so that people can find their way to this site and then could use it as a hub for connecting with other web-sites with a similar feel and purpose. Right now this is in development and in the conceptual phase. For now I will stand alone in the ring. Who knows what will happen. I am just opening this idea to the possibility of developing. Why not put your favorite web-sites in for consideration. Send us your recommendations.
Webmaster Notes
March 31, 1998 Spiritwalk is largely a one man show for now...so, I, Roger Ebsen am the current webmaster. I am not the most skilled person, but things seem to be coming along. The history of the web-site is this: I started working on Word for Windows and then moved to Microsoft Publisher. Initially I posted this on AOL and then joined earthlink and put this on their server. Then I discovered geo-cities and have been here since September, 1997, I think. I was dissatisfied with aspects of both of the earliter programs. Someone recommended that I try Front Page. I got the Front Page 98 Beta version and found this very helpful and eventually constructed a fairly serviceable web-site in my humble opinion. When this expired, I bought Front Page which helped me to make the web-site up in this format which I feel is peace inducing and easy on the eyes as one is reading these materials. I am hungry for ideas and information on how to improve this webpage. I also am aware of my ignorance and have probably committed a faux-pas or two and would appreciate redirection and correction of etiquette if I have offended or overstepped my bounds. I also appreciate any kind of general feedback.
