Spiritwalk Meditation: Living Spiritually

Spiritwalk thought for the week

Each of us is here to discover our true Self…that essentially we are spiritual beings who have taken manifestation in physical form…that…we‘re not human beings that have occasional spiritual experiences…[rather that] we’re spiritual beings that have occasional human experiences.

~ Deepak Chopra

Meditate on this

True liberation is only available with the realization of this spiritual truth…We are in essence Spirit. Even though we have taken material form and live in a material world, our true essence lies beyond this physical plane. Although we can take this on faith as this certainly correlates with our inner wisdom, it often takes profound experience to bring this idea into a reality that we can grasp and retain. It is most difficult to maintain constancy in this perspective. We need to awaken to our spiritual Self and work towards the realization of this. This requires dilligence in maintaining and redirecting our consciousness to this awareness of spirit.

Spirit+love you are the love of god.

What have I experienced in my life that has revealed this Ultimate Reality?

What can I do to cultivate and reinforce this perspective in my daily routine?

How am I distracted from the spiritual perspective on living?

How can I deal with and/or avoid these distrations?

How are my attachments to material world small self interfere with knowing the Higher or Greater Self.

Peace to All!

Reading of the week

Be awake

Love yourself and be awake ~

today, tomorrow, always.

First establish yourself in the way,

then teach others,

and so defeat sorrow.

To straighten the crooked

you must first do a harder thing ~

straighten yourself

You are the only master.

who else?

Subdue yourself,

and discover your master.

Two New Spiritwalk with Roger meditation and spiritual study groups are now organizing. They will probably begin in November '97 in both Sherman Oaks and Westlake Village. We're also working on a Woodland Hills group and a Teen Program. Space availability is always limited. If you are interested, call Roger at 818-999-2922. Or e-mail Roger@spiritwalk.org. More information is available in the Spiritwalk Brochure.

Special thanks to Kathy for her hospitality and ministrations in leading us in our Autumnal Equinox Celebration at the September 23 meeting. We we’re awed by the enthusiasm and light you brought to this event. We’re looking forward to the next one.

You can check out the materials she used in this presentation in the Writings Archive.

We're still looking for advice or even a volunteer to help in developing the spiritwalk

web-site. We’ve come a long, long way in the development of skills in this area. We are now using the Microsoft FrontPage ’98 in constructing this site and think we are getting the hang of this. Thanks to geo-cities for providing the space for our web-site. Please note: The newsletter will probably come out twice a month until the end of the year and then weekly thereafter.

9/1/97

Are you looking for an opportunity to do some charitable work? Our friends at Little Heroes are looking for volunteer helpers. Little Heroes is an organization which helps parents and families who have experienced the untimely death of a young child. Check out their web-site at http://www.littleheroes.org or contact Heather@littleheroes.org. Several articles about this organization appeared in local newspapers in September. Check out the Ventura County Star: 9/7/97 and 9/26/97. Also The L.A. Times: September 29, 1997. This article is on the LA Times web-site …search little+heroes….posted 9/30 for the 9/29 article.

That's All for this week.

Thank you for visiting spiritwalk.

We hope you enjoyed our work and we would love to hear from you.

Please let us know if you have any comments, technical advice, constructive suggestions, a favorite quote or something in general to add. Send e-mail to Roger or webmaster@spiritwalk.org. We welcome your participation in spiritwalk and/or the web-site.

If you are interested in seeing more, visit our library and archive. There isn’t much there as yet as this is our first issue, but we will be adding to it all of the time, so keep on checking in. If all goes well a new SpiritWalk This Week edition will hit the web on Mondays. When we get more adept at this we may have a way to distribute this via e-mail but for now you can find it on the web-site. If you would like to be placed on the e-mail list to receive Spiritwalk This Week, let us know.

If you would like join the Spiritwalk Foundation, to be placed on the e-mail and/or mailing list or if you are interested in our spiritwalk programs you can contact us at Spiritwalk@spiritwalk.org.

Also you can contact Roger with questions, comments or discussion at Roger@spiritwalk.org.

Remember this: We are all spirit incarnated into a particular form and that we are all ultimately connected, one, a part of the all. Do not allow yourself to become confused and distracted by the circumstances and events of your life which seem to obfuscate this fact. Living a spirit centered, spirit driven life saves one ???????

I would like to leave you with this quote from the end of Deepak Chopra’s Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.

We are travelers on a cosmic journey ~ stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. But the expressions of life are ephemeral, momentary, transient. Gautauma Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, once said,

This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds.

To watch the birth and death of beings is like

looking at the movements of a dance.

A lifetime is like a flash of lightning in the sky.

Rushing by like a torrent down a steep mountain.

We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment, but it is transient. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. If we share with caring, lightheartedness, and love, we will create abundance and joy for each other. And then this moment will have been worthwhile. ~ Deepak Chopra

My sentiments, exactly.

Thanks again for checking in. Please come again to Spiritwalk. Leave us a quick e-mail and say Hi!

May you realize the indwelling Spirit with each breath of each day.

Namaste!
